This position supports Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) of communications and network systems for the E-6B and C-130J Integrated Test Team (ITT). The Journeyman T&E Engineer will apply engineering principles to research, analyze, design, develop, implement, test, and evaluate mission systems. The candidate will participate in planning and executing test events, analyze test data, and support the preparation of test plans, procedures, and reports in accordance with DoD and NAVAIR T&E guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Journeyman Engineer will:
- Support developmental test and evaluation of communications and network systems for the E-6B and C-130J Integrated Test Team.
- Apply engineering principles to research, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate systems.
- Review and prepare test plans, test reports, and other technical documentation.
- Apply engineering experience to perform functions of Developmental Test & Evaluation.
- Perform engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing aircraft, missiles, and spacecraft.
- May conduct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aircraft design and manufacture.
- Execute T&E tasks aligned with Capability-Based Test and Evaluation (CBTE) principles.
- Develop, review, and update Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs), test plans, and test reports.
- Participate in technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, TRR, OTRR) and Test & Evaluation Integrated Product Teams (T&E IPTs).
- Support the planning and conduct of lab, ground, and flight tests for integrated mission systems including networked communication systems and Very Low Frequency (VLF) communications.
- Collaborate with test aircrew and form pilot-engineer teams to evaluate system-level performance.
- Support mission systems testing related to communications, navigation, electronic warfare, cyber survivability, and systems integration.
- Assist in analyzing system architecture and interfaces for interoperability and mission effectiveness.
- Use DoD T&E toolsets (e.g., iTEMS suite: iTEST, iTrack, iPlan, iReport) to manage test data and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with data handling and security procedures including Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and TS/SCI classified environments.
- May recommend improvements in testing equipment and techniques.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field for a scientist with at least 3 years of professional engineering experience related to DT&E of aircraft, spacecraft, or communication systems for NAVAIR/NAWCAD customers.
- ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:
- A related field Master's degree may be substituted for 2 years of work experience.
- ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:
- Proficiency in MS Office and other analytical toolsets (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a classified, fast-paced, mission-oriented environment.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Test and Evaluation, Naval or DoD Acquisition, and E-6B and C-130 aircrew.
- Familiarity with systems engineering processes and lifecycle documentation (e.g., ICDs, system design reviews).
- Understanding of Very Low Frequency (VLF) communications, networked communication systems, systems engineering, integrated avionics, and/or integrated mission systems.
- Ability to communicate, work within a team, work within a classified environment, and apply physical principles and engineering knowledge to assessment of a system under development.

Salary : $92,000 - $124,000
