The UAS Software Engineer Intern will assist in the maintenance and development of the company’s remotely operated systems. Tasks will include research and recommendations for both hardware and software solutions for human interface, command and control, and communications systems, and implementation of selected solutions. Candidate will be comfortable providing assistance and instruction to fellow employees, to include giving training on new products. Work may include development of new software to support certain DoD and commercial missions. Physical and information security will be a consideration for all tasks, which may include “white hat” activities to identify corporate vulnerabilities. Travel may be required in support of demonstrations or customer activities. Tasks will include configuration and management/maintenance of new and existing corporate assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The UAS Software Engineer Intern will be responsible for:
- Writing and editing executable software code in multiple programming languages
- Learn and operate vehicle control systems
- Audit current corporate practices and recommend improvements
- Receive, configure and integrate various assets
- Perform integration and testing of various systems
- Assist other employees with IT related tasks
- Assist in new product development, to include generation of unique software code in support of commercial and DoD products
- Performing other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be currently enrolled in a 4 year degree program at an accredited institution
- Strong organization, oral, and written communication skills
- Highly motivated and detail oriented
- Proficiency with software coding in multiple programming languages
- Capacity to learn and adapt rapidly to change
- Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions and perform duties with supervision
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in computer science or aviation, or related field
- GPA of at least 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Experience in identifying problems, gathering data, and recognizing solutions
- Experience in a professional office setting preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based collaborative resources such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
- Familiarity with Pixhawk / Ardupilot and associated system
- Remote-controlled Model airplane experience
