The Opportunity
Join the Absolute Machining team as a CNC Machine Operator, where your role will be essential in supporting high-quality, custom machining solutions. You will be responsible for running CNC machines, maintaining production efficiency, and upholding product integrity through skilled operation and attention to detail.
We are built on providing excellent service and providing premier pre-production consultation, design services, prototyping, material purchasing and manufacturing. We are looking for an ambitious individual willing to put in hard work to build out our capabilities.
We are currently hiring for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift positions, 8 hour shifts 5 days a week. This is a Full-Time opportunity with an hourly wage of $18.00–$28.00 per hour based on experience, with a $500 signing bonus. Compensation is commensurate with experience and/or formal training. This position requires the ability to commute or relocate to Fort Wayne, IN.
Responsibilities
Machine Operation:
· Operate CNC lathes and mills with minimal supervision
· Operate secondary or manual machines as needed
· Load raw material and feed components into machines efficiently
· Monitor machines for performance and quality throughout production runs
Inspection & Quality:
· Check completed parts for accuracy and conformance using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
· Detect and report machine-related flaws or part inconsistencies
· Maintain accurate counts of completed and scrapped parts
· Complete production paperwork and update records in the company database
Shop Duties:
· Clean workstation daily following provided checklists
· Adhere to all health and safety regulations including proper use of PPE
· Communicate with team leads and coworkers to maintain workflow
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Experience operating CNC lathes or mills
- Ability to read blueprints and work operation sheets
- Strong knowledge of measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong work ethic with reliable attendance and punctuality
- Prior machining or lathe operation experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of basic G-code functions
- Familiarity with OKUMA or HAAS interfaces
- Knowledge of materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel
- Ability to perform deburring and light polishing
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in continuous skill development
