We are a rapidly growing craft ice manufacturer specializing in high scale efficient manufacturing of crystal clear craft ice. We started in Northern California in 2020 and have been expanding sales nationally to high-end bars, restaurants, retail customers, and events and venues across the country. Our focus is on safety, quality innovation, and sustainability, ensuring our products enhance the drinking experience of all of our customers. We are now looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team to open up our new production facility in Forest City, NC.
Overview
You will be a key member of our operations team reporting to the Plant Manager, and be responsible for maintaining and improving efficiency on proprietary craft ice manufacturing equipment. You will manage the maintenance operations of the Forest City facility, managing a team, maintaining equipment, and working with the production team to improve efficiency and reliability of equipment. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, prioritizes food safety and regulatory compliance, and is willing to be on the floor, working alongside the team. A key part of this role will be building the maintenance team and creating a high performing work environment through development of the PM program, continuous improvement of our equipment, and most importantly a culture centered around personal and food safety.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of food processing and packaging equipment, including conveyors, mixers, pumps, ovens, and refrigeration systems.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Quickly diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement effective solutions.
- Work closely with production teams to address equipment-related challenges and optimize efficiency.
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory of spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (HACCP, FDA, USDA) and workplace safety standards (OSHA).
- Participate in and lead root cause analysis for equipment failures, recommending process improvements.
- Support facility projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Be available for emergency repairs, on-call duties, and occasional weekend work as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required with bachelor’s degree or technical
certification in a relevant field preferred but not required with sufficient experience
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in industrial maintenance, preferably in food
manufacturing or a related industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, PLC troubleshooting,
electrical systems (480V), pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Certifications (Preferred): OSHA, HACCP, refrigeration (EPA 608), or industrial
electrical certifications.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and
work in varying temperatures and environments.
- Other: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, prior experience in a lead or supervisory maintenance role preferred.
- Experience with safety best practices including Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), safe handling of chemicals, etc.
- Any experience with lean manufacturing, six sigma, or continuous improvement is preferable.
- Must be comfortable working in refrigerated and freezing conditions for prolonged periods of time as required for the ice-making process.
- Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule, including overtime, holiday work, and weekends as required for a start-up organization.
- Ability to do whatever it takes to ensure safe, high quality, and efficient production of ice.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
