What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at Abundance Care CRF?
Function:
Our Direct Support Professional is responsible for training and facilitating independent living and community skills of individuals diagnosed with Intellectual Disability in a CRF to help the achieve their maximum independence.
Know How:
The position requires a person eighteen (18) years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
The position requires the ability to work cooperatively with co-workers, providers, families, organizations, related agencies, and others in the community. The position further requires the ability to assist and train individuals diagnosed with Intellectual Disabilities with life skills, socialization, meal planning/preparation, and money management to meet the consumers basic needs and wants and increase his/her functioning skills. The employee must be able to communicate with the consumer in manner that allows the consumer to maintain his/her basic needs, wants and individual life goals. It also requires the employee to be proficient in basic first aid and CPR, consumer rights and responsibilities, and behavioral patterns and problems or individuals diagnosed with Intellectual Disabilities.
The individual must be able to work a flexible schedule. The employees must be able to preform his/her duties with general supervision. The employee must possess written communication skills to complete required documentation. This position requires that the employee has a valid Alabama Driver’s License or Non-Driver Identification.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $14.51 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
