Responsibilities:


The Development Director position is a full-time exempt (40 hours/week) position. Salary is $85,000 - 100,000K plus four weeks of vacation, health insurance and retirement benefits. The position reports directly to the Executive Director. 


The Development Director will play a critical role in shaping and implementing the organization’s development strategy and plan. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving AGCW’s fundraising initiatives, meeting fundraising goals, engaging with current and prospective donors, and developing comprehensive campaigns to secure individual, foundation, and corporate support. This position involves managing individual, foundation and corporate gifts as well as planned annual giving campaigns, annual events, thank you notes and managing our donor database. Scope of Work:


Program Development and Management

  • Lead the strategic planning and development of AGCW’s fundraising plan and initiatives in alignment with the organization's mission and goals. 
  • Monitor fundraising program outcomes, collect and analyze data, and utilize findings to drive continuous improvement and inform decision-making.
  • Manage development activities, including special events, fundraising, social media, planned giving, donor database public relations, and communications.
  • Explore, develop, and implement new fundraising and planned giving initiatives.
  • Pursue professional development and participate in trainings and conferences


Stakeholder Engagement and Donor Management/Relations

  • Cultivate and build new donor relationships while maintaining ongoing ones, improve current relationships with donors and other corporations.
  • Schedule donor site visits and host foundation officers and individual funders for program observations.
  • Support and guide volunteer involvement in fundraising and public relations efforts.
  • Establish and maintain media contacts to increase public awareness.
  • Represent the organization in presentations to community groups, foundations and other audiences.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with organizations, agencies, and governmental bodies in San Mateo County.


Grant Writing and Management

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, prepare and submit supporting documents for all foundation, government, and corporate grants (approximately 10-15 annually) on a timely basis as required by each grant.
  • Research, prospect and prepare new grant proposals for foundations and other funding sources that support the organization’s mission and budget goals.
  • Manage the grants calendar to ensure accurate deadlines and to record commitments, and meet all reporting requirements.
  • Update and maintain general proposal language that includes the latest research and rationale for statements of need and ensures alignment with the organization’s strategic plan, mission and values.
  • Manage grants database and ensure all grant contacts, proposals, awards data, and thank-you letters are produced and up-to-date.


Administration

  • Prepare detailed fundraising reports to reflect fundraising progress, outlook and outcomes to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Review & update organization’s budget with Executive Director.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as responding to phone inquiries, data entry, and managing donor communications.

Skills & Qualifications Required:


  • Strong alignment with the mission and values of Abundant Grace Coastside Worker.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
  • Comfort in building relationships, sharing the AGCW story and generating interest among donors and funders
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and sustain donors and funders.
  • Ability to research and apply best practices and emerging trends to execute development strategies.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and calmly, with attention to detail, under pressure, with shifting priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to work some nights and/or weekends as necessary.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Google docs, e-mail, database, Internet research, and social media).
  • Ability to learn how to use Bloomerang and Zeffy nonprofit software programs and database applications.


This is a full-time position that requires a willingness to work rarely during evenings and weekends. Abundant Grace offers a generous benefits package including: health and dental plans; employer retirement contributions; one week sick leave and 4 weeks paid vacation.
