Job Summary

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) at Georgia Gwinnett College seeks to hire an Assistant Professor in film / media studies and / or production beginning in August 2025. Formed in 2022, VAPA is an exciting, multidisciplinary program that offers a wide variety of courses in film, theater, music, and visual arts to over 500 undergraduate majors. The successful candidate would profit from the school's location in Georgia, which has transformed into a creative hub for Hollywood studios and their streaming affiliates, and currently ranks number 1 in the world for feature film production.

Required Qualifications

Qualified candidates will hold a terminal degree (M.F.A., or Ph.D.) in an appropriate film discipline, with a strong professional track record in service and student engagement, and evidence of creative and or academic scholarship in their chosen area of focus.

Preferred Qualifications

1-year college-level teaching

Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of student populations.

Sustained professional engagement that demonstrates relevance and currency in the field of teaching and scholarship.

Background in production / film production with skills / abilities to teach video production, post-production classes and screenwriting.
