What are the responsibilities and job description for the Help Desk Technician position at Academy Bus?
Academy Bus is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to support our IT System Administration, maintenance, network, and help desk needs at our Florida locations. This position will be primarily based at our Fort Lauderdale location however will require occasional travel to other Florida locations in Orlando, Tampa, and West Palm Beach.

Help Desk Technician Responsibilities:
- Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining computers, network devices and infrastructure.
- Offering technical assistance with configuration, set up, maintenance, and trouble shooting of computer systems, hardware, and software.
- Responding to queries on the phone, via email, in person, or through remote access.
- Safeguard information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems.
- Keeps users informed by preparing performance reports, communicating system status.
Help Desk Technician Qualifications / Skills:
- A strong working knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software.
- Good problem-solving, analytical, and team-working skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in installing network wiring.
- An openness to learning new technologies.
Present Network Environment:
- Windows network environment (on premise AD.) Office 365, Cisco routers, fire walls, and switches.
- VMware Horizon and Hyper V virtual servers and desktops.
- Rapid7 insightIDR and InsightVM. Carbon Black enterprise Endpoint and EDR.
- Sonic wall VPN.
- Hosted VOIP Phone System.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
- 3 Years of prior relevant experience.
- Proficiency with any of the following: Anti-Virus, Vulnerability Management, Patch Management.
- Understanding of Mobile technology and OS (i.e., Android, iOS), VMware technology.
