Our work environment includes:
- Three USCG-inspected twin-screw passenger vessels
- Passenger count ranges from 35-149 passengers per trip
- Average crew supervised ranges from 2-3 naturalist/deckhands/trip
- Trips include both sightseeing cruises and fishing cruises
**Job Overview:**
We are seeking an experienced 100-ton inland or near-shore USCG-licensed captains to join the Acadian Boat Tours team full-time April 1 through October 31, 2025. The ideal candidate will have a love for nature and wildlife, excellent communication skills, competency with twin-screw vessels, an ability to ensure passenger safety while maximizing customer scenic and wildlife experiences, a willingness to work together with your colleagues and crew to maintain vessels to proper working standards, and the ability to participate successfully in a USCG approved random drug testing program.
**Duties:**
- Operate twin screw vessels on specific routes with specific timing during two hour nature cruises, 3.5 hour puffin & lighthouse tours, 3.5 hour lighthouse tours and 3.5 hour National Park and Fjord tours, and on 3 and 4 hour family friendly fishing trips
- When fishing, locate and assist customers in catching fish by placing the vessel in the best possible position for tide and weather relative to potential fish locations
-Direct deckhands on fishing trips, including handling fish caught, untangling fishing lines, tying new rigs, etc.
- Provide good customer service from dock to boat to dock
-Be primarily responsible for maintaining the vessel throughout the operating season (basic oil changes, filter changes, etc.)
-Assist in keeping the vessel clean between trips, including restroom and galley areas
-Ensure that the crew is adequately trained in basic vessel safety including line tying, MOB drills, fire drills, sinking drills, etc.
- Assist is sighting and identifying wildlife during trips to help maximize customer experience
**Experience:**
- USCG masters license 100-ton inland or near coastal
- Commitment to mentor-style leadership for crew supervision
- Prior experience in customer service to ensure a positive visitor experience
- Prior twin-screw inspected passenger vessel experience
-Prior experience performing basic vessel maintenance and troubleshooting tasks including diesel engine oil changes, filter changes, working knowledge of vessel construction, steering gear, electronics, plumbing, etc.
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Ability to successfully participate in a USCG approved random drug testing program
-Willingness to be a full team member at all times

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
