**Job Overview:**
We are seeking an experienced deckhand/naturalist to join the Acadian Boat Tours team full-time April 1 - October 31, 2025. The ideal candidate will have a love for nature and wildlife, excellent communication skills to educate and engage visitors, a basic understanding of maritime safety standards, and the ability to participate successfully in a USCG approved random drug testing program.
**Duties:**
- Narrate two hour nature cruises, 3.5 hour puffin & lighthouse tours, 3.5 hour lighthouse tours and 3.5 hour National Park and Fjord tours for visitors of all ages
- Provide information on local flora, fauna, and ecosystems
-Deck fishing trips, including handling fish caught, untangling fishing lines, tying new rigs, etc.
- Provide good customer service from dock to boat to dock
-Assist in docking and undocking the vessel
-Assist in maintaining the vessel
-Assist in keeping the vessel clean during trips, including restroom and galley areas
-Man the onboard galley
- Deliver engaging presentations and demonstrations on environmental topics
**Experience:**
- Strong public speaking skills to effectively communicate with diverse audiences
- Excellent time management abilities to organize and conduct programs efficiently in collaboration with the vessel's captain
- Prior experience in customer service to ensure a positive visitor experience
- Prior boating experience, including the basics of decking
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Ability to successfully participate in a USCG approved random drug testing program
-Willingness to be a full team member at all times
Job Types: Seasonal, Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 80 per week
