About the Team
ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified Library Media Specialist at Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, MI.
As a Library Media Specialist at Barber Preparatory Academy, you will play a pivotal role in providing a well-balanced media center to enhance and support the school's educational goals and objectives. Your responsibilities will be diverse, including serving as a teacher and instructional partner, program manager, and specialist. You will have the unique opportunity to develop and implement research-based instructional practices in early literacy.
About the Opportunity:
Responsibilities include to-
- Prepare and deliver lesson activities to promote reading and learning through books.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Maintain library materials by organizing and cataloging all books, videos, and additional resources.
- Collaborate with school leadership and teachers to incorporate library resources and skills into the curriculum
- Manage student behavior
- Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms
- Communicate and meet with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
- Incorporate technology skills into daily practice to support learning
- Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities as needed
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Perform other duties as assigned
About You:
- Active and current state of Michigan teaching license with Library Media subject endorsement
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to appropriately manage confidential information
- Able to supervise students of various ages
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
- Experience working within an urban environment
