- You'll serve as a trusted advisor to state and local governments on hazard mitigation strategies, resilience planning, and compliance with federal regulations.
- You'll build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including emergency management agencies, local governments, and funding agencies.
- You'll conduct workshops, training sessions, and technical assistance for clients on mitigation planning, project implementation, and funding opportunities.
- You'll participate in client-facing growth, supporting business development and proposal efforts.
- You'll support the development and implementation of hazard mitigation plans (HMPs) in compliance with FEMA requirements.
- You'll assist clients in identifying and prioritizing mitigation projects that enhance community resilience.
- You'll provide technical expertise on risk assessments, climate adaptation strategies, and long-term disaster resilience.
- You'll guide clients through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA), and other mitigation-related funding opportunities.
- You'll develop and review grant applications, ensuring alignment with program guidelines and funding priorities.
- You'll support clients in navigating pre-award and post-award compliance, including benefit-cost analysis (BCA), environmental and historic preservation (EHP) reviews, and financial management.
- You'll oversee the implementation of mitigation projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- You'll provide technical assistance on risk reduction strategies, including floodplain management, infrastructure hardening, and wildfire mitigation.
- You'll collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and government agencies to drive successful project outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, emergency management, or resilience planning.
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), Associate Emergency Manager (AEM), or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credentials.
- Experience conducting Benefit-Cost Analysis (BCA) for mitigation projects.
- Knowledge of infrastructure resilience, hardening and modernization.
- Master’s degree in Emergency Management, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of FEMA mitigation programs, including HMGP, BRIC, and FMA.
- Experience working with state and local governments on mitigation projects and funding strategies.
- Familiarity with federal grant management requirements, including 2 CFR 200.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to support client engagements.
