Job Summary
The Optician/Wellness Manager is a unique hybrid role responsible for assisting patients with eyewear selection, prescriptions, and fittings while also overseeing wellness programs to enhance patient care and engagement. This position ensures seamless integration of optical services with broader health and wellness initiatives, promoting a holistic approach to patient well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Optician Duties
- Assist patients in selecting eyewear, ensuring proper fit and functionality.
- Interpret prescriptions and provide recommendations for lenses and frames.
- Conduct adjustments, repairs, and fittings of eyeglasses.
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and maintenance.
- Maintain inventory and manage orders for optical products.
- Ensure compliance with optical industry standards and company policies.
Wellness Management Duties
- Develop and implement wellness programs that integrate vision care with overall health.
- Educate patients on preventative eye care and its connection to general well-being.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to support holistic patient care.
- Oversee wellness initiatives, including workshops, screenings, and community outreach.
- Track and assess wellness program effectiveness, making recommendations for improvement.
- Supervise and support staff in executing wellness-related activities.
Qualifications
- Licensed or certified optician (if required by state regulations).
- Experience in optical sales, patient care, and wellness program management.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to educate and engage patients in holistic wellness approaches.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and optical management systems.
- Passion for both vision care and overall health and wellness.
