The Optician is responsible for delivering key results.
Leadership competencies such as Patient Care, Drive for Results, Foster Teamwork, and Critical Thinking will deliver successful top line results and profit management. Exceptional organization skills are required for success in this role, in addition to collaboration with the doctor and staff. The major responsibility of the Optician is to drive profitable sales growth through the delivery of outstanding customer service.
Job Description: Optician
- Assist patients with frame & lens selection
- Frame displays and merchandising
- Take care of repairs, adjustments, supplies, and handle walk-ins.
- Place follow-up calls 2-4 weeks after dispensing eyewear
- Handle and keep track of returns, credits with lab and vendors
- Board Management: Meet with vendors to purchase ophthalmic frames and sunglasses and supplies. Maintain numbers and monitor Cost of Goods
- Develop vendor relationships, co-operative marketing, and coordinate dispensary promotions and activities
- Pricing development and review
- Keep track of eyewear jobs re: time, length, and accuracy
- Check in jobs and notify patients
- Maintain general appearance of dispensary and lab
Secondary responsibilities when needed:
· Pretesting of patients
· Take retinal photos
· Administer visual fields tests
· Teach I & R for new contact lens patients
· Answer phones
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 year of Optical experience.
- Developed communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of optical industry lens, frame, insurance, and problem-solving principals.
- Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with POS transactions
- Familiarity with inventory procedures
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
- Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner.
- Availability to work flexible shifts
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
