What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fund Development Specialist position at Access Community Action Agency?
JOB SUMMARY: To support the Access Mission and Strategic Commitments, the Specialist - Fund Development coordinates fund development initiatives, maintains donation-related data, participates in grant writing, and administers all Fund Development operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:
- Coordinate Fund Development Initiatives
- Prepare and implement annual giving plans
- Support and promote an ongoing “Major Gifts” solicitation campaign
- Develop and implement a yearly planned giving program
- Manage the development and production of all Access fundraising events
- Develop and implement “Online” solicitation campaigns
- Assist in the development of a multi-year fund development plan
- Maintain Donation-Related Data
- Collect and submit development data for internal reporting
- Collect internal program data to support annual Town Allocation Requests
- Ensure maintenance of an accurate, up-to-date database of current and not-yet donors
- Identify characteristics of existing donors and complete donor profiles
- Participate in Grant Writing
- Using available resources, identify new potential grant opportunities for consideration.
- Coordinate process to prioritize and select grants for which to apply
- Coordinate with and gather from appropriate staff grant required information
- Write and submit selected grants on a timely basis
- Write and submit grant reports when needed on a timely basis
- Ensure maintenance of proper, up-to-date grants tracking form and grant documents.
- Provide Administration of All Fund Development Operations
- Support a culture of philanthropy with best practices, shared language, vision, and values throughout Access, including board, staff, volunteers, and a community of friends
- Support building relationships with individual donors
- Provide solicitation and stewardship support to individual donors
- Assist in increasing overall revenue generation, the number of general donors, and average gift amounts
- Assist with donor research on wealth, income, and propensity to give
- Other Duties As Assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field*
- Knowledge of Donor Perfect (or other donation databases) software is preferred
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population and establish trust
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate
- Effective active listening skills and social perceptiveness

- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently requires continuous standing, walking, sitting, and consistent repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and fingers
- Position may require light lifting, no more than 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
- Must be able to hear and vocalize effectively to exchange accurate information
- Occasionally required to read and comprehend complex grant documents, program plans, and agency policies and procedures
- Ability to transport self by personal vehicle to local agency locations as needed to execute essential functions
