Job Purpose: Manage daily dispatch operations, serve as a back-up driver, optimize procedures, and maintain communication with drivers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient coordination of assignments.
Basic Requirements:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Valid Nevada Driver's license and clean five-year DMV record
- Pass drug tests upon hire and randomly during employment
- Comply with Nevada traffic laws
- Pass a background check through the State of Nevada
Key Responsibilities:
- Review dispatch records for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to service level agreements
- Transport seniors and people with disabilities to appointments, medical supplies, prescriptions, and groceries in Washoe, Carson, Douglas, Story, and Lyon Counties
- Participate in PASS driver training, ADA sensitivity, safety, and wheelchair securement courses
- Optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency
- Communicate with drivers about schedule changes, traffic updates, and customer concerns
- Troubleshoot issues and report to the Transportation Director
- Maintain clear communication with drivers, clients, and other departments regarding dispatch updates and status changes
- Provide door-to-door service, assist clients with personal belongings, and ensure safe transport of clients and their mobility equipment
- Conduct vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain client records and trip activity via smartphone technology
- Act as a liaison between clients and other community programs
- Maintain a professional appearance and excellent customer service
- Manage time efficiently and practice active listening in a high-traffic environment
- Adapt to changing work environments and duties
Education: High School Diploma
Minimum Experience Required:
- 2 years in dispatch operations or logistics management
- 2 years computer experience, including Microsoft Suite and database input
- 5 years driving experience, commercial vehicle experience preferred
- Ability to use a smartphone
Work Environment:
- Exposure to various weather conditions and mechanical parts
- Moderate noise level
- Ability to sit in a vehicle for 6-8 hours daily
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Perform physical activities such as bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, grasping, kneeling, crawling, and climbing
- Specific vision abilities required
