As a Respite Direct Support Professional, your primary role will be to support individuals in their daily activities and care needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, while giving their primary caregiver a break. Key responsibilities include:
- Daily Care & Support: Assist with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation.
- Health & Safety: Administer medications as prescribed, monitor and document health status, and ensure adherence to health-risk plans.
- Behavioral Support: Follow individualized behavior support plans (BSP) to encourage positive behavior and document target behaviors.
- Communication: Maintain clear, consistent communication with individuals, families, case managers, and your supervisor. Act as an advocate for the individuals in your care.
- Recreational Activities: Engage individuals in social and recreational activities that promote their well-being and social skills.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required documentation by the end of each shift.
- Individualized Care: Promote independence by actively involving individuals in decisions about their care and daily activities.
Qualifications:
We are looking for passionate, dedicated individuals who have a genuine interest in helping others. Key qualifications include:
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Driving: Must have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance coverage.
- Experience: Previous experience in human services, behavioral health, or direct care is preferred, but not required.
- Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills are essential. Ability to multitask and adapt to individual needs.
- Compassionate: Must have patience, empathy, and the ability to work with individuals who have diverse needs, with a deep respect for the individuality of the people you’ll be supporting and their personal choices.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: Ability to administer medications and follow safety protocols.
- Documentation & Technology: Ability to complete required documentation, including behavioral reports, health documentation, and progress notes, using basic software applications.
