Job Summary
As a Construction Safety Specialist with Accountable Safety Solutions, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining a safe working environment on assigned construction projects throughout the Southeast region. Duties include developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures, conducting regular inspections, providing safety training to workers, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site. This is a field position that requires walking the job regularly and engaging with workers, field supervision and management. Pay is $45-55$/hr based on experience and credentials. Regular schedule is 5/10s with some 60-hour work weeks. Per diem $125/day.
Construction Safety Specialist Responsibilities
- Conduct and participate in site specific safety orientations
- Ensure contractors are aware of project-specific rules and EH&S requirements
- Consult daily with the Superintendent regarding the coordination of safety activities and High-Risk Work Permits
- Review and approve contractor JSA’s for compliance with client /requirements
- Review and approve contractor work permits for high risk work (i.e. Hot work, Confined Space Work, Elevated Work, etc)
- Ensure contractor compliance to project Site Specific Safety Plan including but not limited to, safety submittals, training and equipment inspections and other documentation
- Anticipate potential hazards and safety requirements to eliminate or mitigate
- Educate and coach project team and contractors on safety guidelines and policies to ensure compliance with all State, Federal, Local and regulations and client requirements.
- Inspect the job site regularly and record observations into Procore
- Conduct weekly safety audits and record in Procore
- Manage Behavioral Based Observation Program and encourage worker participation
- Administer safety incentive program gifts
- Investigate all incidents and complete all incident investigation reports
- Maintain safety documentation and records on the project. Records include
JSAs, Tool Box Talks, Chemical SDS, Safety Inspections, Safety permits and any other records that may be generated on the project involving safety
Requirements
- 4 years of experience in the construction safety space
- BCSP Certifications Strongly Preferred (CHST, SMP, ASP, CSP)
- OSHA 500 Strongly Preferred
- OSHA 30 Required
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regs required
- CPR/first aid certified
- Strong leadership skills and experience
- Excellent judgment and a strict sense of ethics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Certifications
- Maintain high level of professionalism (appearance and communication)
- In-depth understanding of EHS regulations and construction industry standards
- Ability to effectively communicate, coach and enforce site specific policies
- Ability to work alone without a lot of guidance at times and ability to work as part of a project team
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
