Accountants One has been hired by a repeat client in the Fintech industry to find a Director of Accounting to join their established team. The ideal candidate will be a CPA, with a public accounting/audit background, SOX compliance, an understanding of 10Qs, and 10Ks, and strong GL accounting.
Requirements:
- CPA
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Master's degree preferred
- 7 years experience leading accounting, auditing, or SEC external reporting functions
- Combination of Big 4 and corporate accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
- Experience managing multiple staff
- Strong written communication and critical reasoning skills
- International experience a plus
- Consolidations, FX a plus
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and ensure completion of all corporate accounting functions for the Company. This includes journal entries, adjusting entries, maintenance of the general ledger and the associated sub-ledgers, internal financial reporting, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process ensuring timeliness and accuracy of reporting.
- Ensure all company financial records are properly maintained and that all accounting and internal financial reporting are in compliance with US GAAP.
- Review financial results, identify, research, and report variances, and provide executive leadership with information that enhances their understanding of the financial results.
- Assist with the management of the SOX program and manage compliance with internal controls related to accounting processes.
- Evaluate current processes and suggest, implement, and refine policies and procedures to optimize efficiencies related to close activities.
- Train staff on new developments and new technology in a continuous improvement culture.
- Partner with IT to assist with financial system implementations and upgrades.
- Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits of client requests from both internal and external auditors.
- Support the executive team with ad hoc requests and special projects, particularly in support of key business items and strategic priorities.
