Job Description:
The Tax Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing tax returns, conducting tax research, and assisting clients with tax compliance matters. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Key responsibilities include:
• Preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Assisting in tax planning strategies and identifying potential tax-saving opportunities for clients.
• Conducting research on various tax issues and preparing memoranda to summarize findings.
• Analyzing financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure accurate tax reporting.
• Assisting with tax audits and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Maintaining detailed and organized tax work papers and documentation.
• Keeping up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and provide accurate guidance.
• Collaborating with team members and clients to address tax-related questions and concerns.
• Supporting senior accountants and tax managers in special projects and tax consulting engagements.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA license or progress toward certification preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in a public accounting firm.
• Knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
