General Responsibilities

Interesting, fast-paced work for a national accrediting agency (ACCET) in a small, supportive working environment, with full benefits. Assist in the accreditation of higher education institutions. Primary responsibilities involve :

  • Virtual and on-site team evaluation visits (travel required)
  • ACCET Commission Meetings
  • Accreditation Workshops
  • Assigned portfolios
  • Assist ACCET membership through the accreditation process

Primary Responsibilities

Virtual and On-Site Team Evaluation Visits :

The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

  • Organize, facilitate, and participate in team evaluation visits to institutions seeking accreditation. Significant travel required for on-site visits (approx. 25% - 35% of time).
  • Schedule, arrange travel / accommodations, and assist the teams of volunteer evaluators (on-site and virtual).
  • Draft, consolidate, and edit team visit reports for review by the ACCET Commission.
  • ACCET Commission Meetings :

  • Prepare documentation and resources for review at ACCET Commission meetings.
  • Support Commissioners during meetings.
  • Prepare draft correspondence regarding the Commission’s accreditation decisions.
  • Workshops, Trainings, and Conferences :

  • Present at workshops, trainings, and other events for membership institutions and staff.
  • Review ACCET standards, policies, and expectations with institutions through interactive events.
  • Assigned Portfolios :

  • Participate in assigned committees and projects. Review applications and documents related to assigned portfolios.
  • Membership Assistance :

  • Provide assistance to applicants and members on matters related to ACCET standards and policies.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, particularly in postsecondary education. Experience with the accreditation process—whether through employment at an accredited institution or serving as a volunteer on evaluation visits—is strongly valued. A background in higher education, curriculum development, interactive distance learning, or compliance is also preferred.

    Required Qualifications

    Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail for tasks including :

    1. Reviewing documents for compliance with ACCET standards

    2. Writing team visit reports

    3. Compiling information from evaluation visits

    4. Drafting letters detailing Commission decisions

    5. Coordinating and making travel arrangements for both themselves and volunteers for in-person evaluation visits

    Core Competencies

  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on reliability, diplomacy, and enthusiasm.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, video conferencing software, and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Ability to self-motivate, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to transport teams in rental vehicles.
  • Work Environment and Expectations

    Job Location : Washington, DC (hybrid) or Remote Position

  • This position requires 25-35% work-related travel, both nationally and internationally.
  • Ability to manage a team on evaluation visits, ensuring successful coordination and leadership during site visits.
  • Able to effectively collaborate as part of a remote team, with some required in-person workdays.
  • Must be a well-versed traveler capable of navigating both domestic and international environments.
  • Salary & Benefits

    Classification : Full-Time Position

    Salary : $50,000 - $60,000 based on qualifications and experience. Location-based pay.

    Benefits : Medical, dental, and life insurance, retirement plan.
