Salary Placement and Work Hours: This is a 12-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the D3 Salary Schedule with a range of $41,710-$69,591, dependent on education and applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President and salary schedule guidelines. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week. Evening work is required for one-two nights per week. This is a grant-funded position and, as such, non-probationary status cannot be attained per the Students' First Act. Supervisory Responsibility: No Start Date: February 2024

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following: Provide learning opportunities that draw upon and extend learners’ knowledge, skills, and interestLink instruction to the learner’s academic needs as determined by the results of valid, reliable assessment and reassessmentSelect materials and choose teaching styles that address individual learning stylesExtend learners’ knowledge and competency using technology to aid learningSolve conflicts and problems in the classroomProvide a respectful and supportive learning environmentConvey the expectation of success to adult learnersRequire adult learners to engage in analysis, investigation, and interpretation as part of the learning processAssist with learner intake and orientation by: Providing a welcoming, encouraging, and respectful atmosphere; Engaging in an exchange of information with entering adult learners; Providing the program’s philosophy, goals, instructional services, schedules, attendance policies, and any other relevant information.; Determining the support services needed and informing entering adult learners of available support services; Recording the adult learner’s goals and needs.; Acknowledging learners’ doubts or anxieties about entering the program.Participate in all professional development opportunities provided by the instructional supervisor or the state adult and community education staff, including attendance at the Annual Adult Education Summer Conference. Teachers are encouraged to support state and national adult education and literacy advocacy organizations.Administer assessment instruments to diagnose, evaluate, and place adult learners in adult education program. Utilize the results of a properly administered assessment instrument and develop a plan of instruction (POI) that identifies each objective and/or skill for which each learner has demonstrated non- and/or partial-mastery.Visit other classes for the purpose of observation, curriculum consultation, and coordination as directed by the Program Director.Assist with grant applications and proposals as directed by the Program DirectorAssist with preparation and distribution of publicity materials and learner recruitment.Assist with preparation and implementation of program activities such as workshops, in-service training, graduation, etc.Complete other tasks as directed by the Program Director and/or President. Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College

Applications for the position will be reviewed to determine (1) if they are complete and (2) if the applicant meets the minimum qualifications required of the position. Interviews are then scheduled at the President’s discretion and will be conducted in person or through a web-interface such as Zoom, Skype, or Microsoft Teams. Applicants will be required to participate in an interview at their own expense. Official transcripts will be required of the finalist chosen for employment by the President. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Criminal Background Checks-In accordance with Alabama Community College System policy and procedures, the applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a consent form for a criminal background check. Employment will be contingent upon the receipt of a clearance notification from the criminal background check. Some applicants may be subject to fingerprint checks as required by the ACCS board policy.
