The Information Technology Support Specialist shall provide technical support as part of a team in the Information Technology department. The Information Technology Support Specialist will adhere to the policies as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook. Salary: Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E3, Grade 4 Salary Range $39,759 - $57,251 (12 months, Non-Exempt) Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The Information Technology Support Specialist shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook. Staff the Drake State Helpdesk, receiving and responding to technical inquires (concerning email, local area network connectivity, web browsing, printing, etc.) from faculty, staff, and students via telephone, electronic help desk, email, web, and other communication methodsEnter, assign and track service requests in the on-line work-order system, and refer service issues to IT managementProvide professional, courteous, prompt, and accurate support and solutions to usersCommunicate, analyze, and troubleshoot routine user problems and provide proper solutions or remedies Properly document problem ticket into on-line Help Desk SystemAssist other IT technical staff in providing user feedback and user statisticsInstall personal computer hardware and software including unpacking, testing, transporting to user site, and interfacing to network and/or main computer system.Imaging large groups or supporting said imaging using applications such as MSCM, Acronis, Ghost, etc.Maintenance and setup of licensing servers supporting instructional departments’ use of specific software such as SolidWorks, SolidEdge, etc.Respond to user problems; assist in identifying computer software and hardware malfunctions and in initiating corrective action to maintain workflow.Assist in supporting the network including installation and troubleshooting of appropriate cabling.Provide audio and video support as required.Create and administer new user accounts, passwords, emails, and privileges/rights as assigned and directed by system administrators Assist in the operations of enterprise systems as needed Maintain an inventory of assigned equipment and suppliesAssist in the setup and maintenance of Drake State computer labs and network cabling, including Category 6, wireless, and fiber optic networking equipmentAssist in registration and pre-registration activities as neededWork closely with other IT staff to acquire additional technical and non-technical knowledgeServe on college committees when requestedPerform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of IT, Regional CIO, Executive Director of Fiscal Affairs and Administrative Services, and/or the PresidentJob description may be modified or altered any time by management.
