Job Title: Construction/Operations/Maintenance Inspector

Job Summary:
Involves monitoring construction, operations, maintenance, and/or repair activities to ensure conformance with MSFC standards, including construction and performance specifications, code requirements, and contract construction drawings.

Job Summary:
Involves monitoring construction, operations, maintenance, and/or repair activities to ensure conformance with MSFC standards, including construction and performance specifications, code requirements, and contract construction drawings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisor responsibility.
- Provide inspection and surveillance of construction, operations, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the work is in accordance with the contract.
- Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log.
- Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor’s requests for payment.
- Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule.
- Maintain an Inspectors Site Inspection Report.
- Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes,
- Monitor requests for Information (RFI), and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the construction period.
- Participate in pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations of detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.
- Verify accurate as-built drawings on a weekly basis
- Assist in review and comment on all O&M Manuals.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- 3 years of applicable experience on construction projects
- Experience as a master or journeyman electrician is a plus
- Experience as a master or journeyman HVAC technician is a plus
- Army Corp of Engineering (USACE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or other federal project construction experience is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of business office procedures.
- Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read and understand construction contract drawings.
- Ability to inspect and confirm construction work conforms to design drawings and specifications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other involved parties.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to safely lift and carry 40 pounds
- Ability to carry equipment associated with construction and inspection
- Willing to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
