Job Description: Human Resources Supervisor
Job Purpose:
The Human Resources (HR) Supervisor will act as the primary support for the Human Resources Manager and the HR Department, ensuring effective HR operations and compliance within the Distribution Center (DC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technical Support:
- Advise and make recommendations to DC management on all HR-related matters.
- Work closely with the DC Manager to assist with employee and temporary staffing needs.
- Performance Management:
- Coordinate performance management programs to ensure performance expectations are set and policy guidelines are adhered to.
- Ensure performance evaluations are conducted effectively and in a timely manner.
- Communication:
- Facilitate effective and timely communication across all levels of employees.
- Collaborate with on-site temporary staffing agencies to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Payroll and Benefits:
- Serve as a backup in payroll processing and employee benefits administration.
- Assist employees with general benefits questions and manage the open enrollment process.
- Employee Relations:
- Investigate and respond to employee complaints and EEOC charges.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Conduct exit interviews, monitor findings, recommend changes, and evaluate effectiveness.
- Provide advice and counsel on personnel issues, resolving conflicts in a timely manner.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Monitor the DC environment and notify management of issues or concerns.
- Complete and submit unemployment documentation to the state promptly; represent the company at unemployment hearings and tribunals when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and monitor updates to labor law changes.
- Safety Programs:
- Professionally support safety programs in collaboration with the Safety Manager.
- Administer and provide administrative support for workers' compensation programs.
- HR Administration:
- Oversee and monitor compliance of new hire processes and pay range tracking.
- Supervise daily activities of HR staff.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date I-9 forms for all current and past employees.
- Manage DC organization charts and personnel transaction records.
- Training and Development:
- Implement, oversee, and monitor the effectiveness of DC training initiatives.
- Conduct training sessions on HR topics as needed.
- Conduct new employee orientations.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Track and report personnel data changes, including changes in status.
- Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Science, Business Administration, or a related field with a concentration in Human Resource Management preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on HR generalist and supervisory experience required, preferably in a warehouse/production environment.
- Proven experience in recruitment (direct hire and temps), benefits administration, payroll processing, employee/labor relations, and safety/worker's compensation.
- Skills:
- Strong communication, writing, and software skills with high proficiency in Excel.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred) with college-level fluency in reading, writing, and speaking.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
- Strong organizational skills and knowledge of DC operations.
- Team-oriented with a strong sense of collaboration.
- Capable of adhering to strict deadlines.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Sitting at a computer for extended periods.
- Climbing stairs.
