Title: AIM Coach
Hours: 12 - 25 Hours/week; 10:00 - 5:00 during Summer, 2:00 - 6:00 during school year (FLEXIBLE)

Description:
AIM Coaches report either to the Middle School or High School Director and assist in the AIM After School Program operations, including, but not limited to, the safety of youth and program space, creating a productive learning environment, monitoring each student's academic progress, active participation in sports-based activities, enrichment activities and field trips, and one-on-one tutoring.
This position contributes to the success of AIM’s goal of providing daily learning structure, academic assistance, and social connection for participants. AIM After-School Staff are positive role models and leaders among the youth, and they intend to work towards building impactful relationships with students.
If there is low volunteer attendance, AIM Coaches may be required to tutor students.
This position must demonstrate AIM Values and Skills Learning, Integrity, Leadership, Community, Teamwork, Passion and Resilience.
Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Communicate and collaborate with other AIM staff members to maintain daily routine and successfully facilitate programming needs including setup/tear down of daily programming, preparing daily snack, participating in tennis and other activities/games, etc.
- Support the needs of all AIM programming, but with special emphasis on their assigned team (middle or high school)
- Maintain cleanliness of AIM facilities and complete required daily opening and closing duties checklist
- Monitor academic area ensuring rules are followed and provide assistance to director when appropriate
- Cultivate and maintain a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment where youth will be successful
- Participate in training and development opportunities to learn about or improve best youth development practices and implementation of programs and activities
- Model AIM values, skills and all AIM HR policies
- Mentor and support students’ social-emotional needs
- Utilize best practice for youth development including use of positive tone, warm demanding, trauma informed healing centered practices, etc.
Relationship Building
- Maintain respectful, positive and mature relationships between self, students, other staff and volunteers
- Develop and implement culturally and generationally competent strategies needed to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
- Support and encourage youth to remain engaged during program time
- Participate in ALL programming activities where students are involved while on the clock and with a positive attitude
- Support improvement of students’ individual academic performance, life skills, and character development through identifying students’ strengths
- Willingness to learn and understand youth development and/or educational work with youth, families, and organizations of Alachua County
Academic Assistance
- Provide feedback to students on academics and help them build a solid understanding of material for future studies
- Provide tips and assistance with test preparation, study skills, and note-taking skills
- Offer suggestions to help youth manage their time and organize academic materials
Qualifications:
- Ability to present a positive image to staff, participants, colleagues, and the Gainesville community
- Ability to work independently, be flexible, and manage multiple priorities
- High degree of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
- Responsible, dependable, punctual, and will take initiative
- Positive attitude and maturity conducive to working effectively as a team player with diverse members, staff, interns, volunteers, parents/guardians and other stakeholders
- Must be able to adapt to changes in workplace and maintain a high energy level when necessary
- Must be mentally alert, able to process and follow directions and remain friendly and professional at all times
- Must have a strong work ethic and high degree of professionalism
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and writing skills. Organization and time management skills necessary to meet deadlines
- Valid FL Driver’s License. Reliable transportation preferred
- Proficient computer skills, especially using Microsoft Suite and Google Suite of applications
- Completion of and passing of DCF Level II Background Check required
