Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon arrival and assist with the check-in process to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Schedule and confirm appointments for various medical services, ensuring optimal use of resources.
- Verify patient insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations prior to appointments.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before entering it into the medical records system.
- Maintain organized patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate efficient patient flow and address any scheduling conflicts.
- Utilize Athenahealth or similar electronic health record systems to manage patient information effectively.
- Assist patients with inquiries regarding their medical records, appointment status, and other related concerns.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in patient service within a hospital or dental clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical scheduling processes and office management practices is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation review is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on customer service excellence.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems, particularly Athenahealth or similar platforms.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to regulatory standards.
