The Role:
The Team Leader Relief of a production line is responsible for the team which encompasses personnel from the unloader to the finished pallet. The Team Leader Relief will be responsible for overall safety, quality and productivity results. The Team Leader Relief performs changeovers, trouble-shooting and on-line repairs during production. The Team Leader Relief will report to maintenance with a dotted line to production. When not scheduled as a team leader they will assume the job duties of a line mechanic.
Starting Team Lead Relief positions will likely work on the plant's 3rd shift: 11pm to 7am CST, Monday-Friday. There may be a need to work any off shift; 2nd and 3rd shifts provide shift pay differential. There may be weekend shift work required. This position has a set starting hourly pay rate, per CBA.
What You'll Do:
- Operate equipment per SOP’s (standard operating procedures) and create / update such documents as required.
- Perform necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of all equipment starting with the unloading equipment through the take-off lanes.
- Conduct quality control checks in accordance with ACH Foods policy, with the assistance of the line operators to correct deficiencies as required.
- Change filters and oil flow valves for scheduled product changeovers and control inlet oil and outlet dump tank.
- Communicate effectively with internal & external stakeholders to accomplish goals.
- Participate in the identification of root cause & document the findings in the downtime tracking system; document any adjustments made to equipment in the logbook.
- Generate future corrective lists to minimize future downtime in logbook
- Changeovers can include but are not limited to container size, cleaner, filler, capper, rails after depalletizer thru the line and up to the palletizer.
- Assist materials coordinator in correctly changing over case packer.
- Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning, inspection and lubrication (CIL) as needed.
- Provide aid to line operators and material coordinator to ensure proper amounts of packaging supplies for all changeovers.
- Perform repairs on any equipment from truck unloading through product storage.
- Responsible for ensuring proper line area GMP (good manufacturing practices) and sanitation is taking place.
- Assist with training new & existing operators to perform their assigned duties on the line.
- Lead and participate in focused improvement events to drive improved line performance.
- Perform other duties assigned by production/maintenance supervisor.
What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent education (i.e. GED)
- 3 to 5 years industrial experience preferably in a food manufacturing or packaging environment.
- Must be an experienced operator with the ability to perform skilled mechanical adjustments with strong leadership aptitude
- Journeyman Mechanic skills required
- Training in mechanical systems including hydraulic & pneumatic systems, plumbing, piping systems.
- Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to push, pull, lift; up to 50 pounds, as required.
- Ability to lead by example, to demonstrate team leadership by providing information, coaching, training and counseling to ensure team effectiveness
- Strong oral and written communication skills
This position is subject to a mechanical skill competency test to assist in determining qualifications, in accordance with CBA.

Pay Rate Range:
- Pay rate for this role is $36.20 per hour
- Pay rate is in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Starting rate for this position is aligned with pay rate structure for the full rate of the job,
