Darden Center Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY
The Alabama Council on Human Relations (ACHR) seeks candidates for the Darden Center Supervisor position. The individual selected for this position will coordinate classroom staff, activities and services in the center along with other support staff. As the Center Supervisor, will implement ACHR philosophy and agency-approved curriculum. Contributes to the planning and presentation of workshops, guides classroom staff towards professional growth, and supervises/evaluates classroom personnel.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Plans with Education Team to ensure activities and services in the center are developmentally appropriate for infants, toddlers and pre-school children and in compliance with agency-approved curriculum, Head Start Performance Standards, and licensing standards.
- Works as a team member in planning and carrying out agency philosophy toward families, staff and in meetings/workshops to maintain uniformity of professional standards across centers.
- Understands and models for parents and staff acceptable attitudes toward and implementation of center curriculum.
- Reviews applications for eligibility, selection and enrollment of age eligible children.
- Ensures enrollment is maintained at the center and that timely replacement of children occurs.
- Conducts staff meetings on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Other work-related duties as assigned.
CDA or associate's degree required; bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in Family and Child Development, Human Development/Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred, five years of child development experience; experience in supervision, (organization, evaluation, training, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Effective in both written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and multi-task.
- Access to a vehicle, have a valid drivers’ license and maintain adequate liability insurance.
- Ability to attend required meetings and trainings at various locations.
- Ability to work with individuals inclusive of all ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
- Possess leadership skills and program management skills.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Basic office and computer skills (word processing, email, internet research).

Pay: $19.19 - $23.11 per hour
