Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction, helping them navigate their recovery journey. You will work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, facilitate group therapy sessions, and provide ongoing mental health counseling. Your expertise in clinical counseling and patient care will be vital in fostering a supportive environment for healing and growth.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clients' needs and progress.
- Provide education on addiction, coping strategies, and relapse prevention techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 codes to assist in client assessments.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Monitor clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions to promote peer support and shared experiences.
- Stay updated on best practices in addiction counseling and mental health care.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Certification as an Addiction Counselor (CADC, LADC, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of mental health counseling principles and practices.
- Experience with clinical counseling techniques, including individual group counseling.
- Experience in substance use treatment, detox, or behavioral health
- Knowledge of withdrawal symptoms and treatment strategies
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9 coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to empathize with clients.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
