What are the responsibilities and job description for the Monitor Clerk/Tech position at ACMC Healthcare System?
Summary:
The Monitor Clerk/Tech is responsible for clerical, receptionist, communication, and office supply procurement duties as well as observation of all telemetry units, ICU monitors, and bedside assistance.
Performs clerical functions including the organization of patient health information, answering telephones, and arranging emergent/non-emergent transportation for patient care.
Assists in the coordination of the Plan of Care visits between interdisciplinary teams within the ICU or assigned nursing units.
Provides patient care as assigned by the provider or nurse. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, specimen collection, blood glucose readings, transporting patients, measuring intake and output, electronic documentation, and all other aspects of patient care within the scope of practice.
Utilizes appropriate interpersonal communication which facilitates productive relationships with other team members.
Completes annual required competencies.
Assists with the maintenance and ordering of supplies/equipment.
Assists with data abstraction for quality improvement projects.
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Medical Terminology preferred.
Basic computer experience required. Knowledge of Windows-based software packages.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent customer satisfaction skills.
Organized, accurate, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet demands.
Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
Excellent telephone etiquette skills.
Proper lifting techniques.
Required Length and Type of Experience
Hospital experience preferred.
Required Licensure or Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Course provided during hospital orientation.
Must successfully complete and pass the EKG course provided within 3 months of hire.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity and repetitive hand/wrist motions to produce materials on the computer. Normal or corrected vision, normal or corrected hearing, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting and carrying from 5 to 20 lbs. Ability to work in a high stress environment.
