JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for the set-up, maintenance and operation of the bar. Take orders, prepare and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and meals to guests courteously and efficiently according to restaurant recipes, standards and procedures. Prepare bar drink orders for service staff. Promote positive guest relations. Collect Payments. Assist in the maintenance of the restaurant, service areas and equipment.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, low light vision and depth perception.
The employee is occasionally exposed to cold and heat and to moderate to loud noise.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES:
Essentials:
- Regular on-site attendance required.
- Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a bartender or bar-back.
- Ability to effectively communicate with managers, staff and customers to each's understanding.
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to handle money and make accurate change.
- Ability to provide legible communication.
- Flexible and Adaptable with strong stress management skills.
- Certification in alcohol awareness program.
Desirable:
- High school diploma, some college.
- Certificate of training in liquor, wine and food service.
- Experience in bartending, cash handling and computers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Always strive to exceed guests expectations.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, wines, beers and non-alcoholic selections along with the correct glassware, garnishes and presentation standards and efficiently operate the POS system.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.
- Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures.
- Complete opening, running and closing side work according to standards and assignments and maintain organization, sanitation standards and cleanliness at all times.
- Communicate with servers, kitchen and other bartenders and coordinate entire station to ensure guest satisfaction with the food, beverages and service.
- Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted money. Keep banks secure at all times.
- Ensure that all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. system before giving drinks to them.
- Handle all guest complaints promptly and always involve a manager.
- Coordinate transfer of guests checks with servers and/or manager on duty when guest moves to dining room table.
- Pre-print all guest checks and review for accuracy before presenting to the guest.
- Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies and procedures. Ability to make change.
- Count bank and handle financial check out at the end of the shift. Report all tips.
- Report to work in clean and neat uniform. Abide by all personal appearance and hygiene standards.
- Assist in training new employees according to restaurant standards.
