Reports To: Plant Manager

Location: 22195 Viking Ave, NW Bldg. C. Poulsbo, WA

Job Description: Production Manager reports to the Plant Manager and works with both the Assistant Plant Manager and Plant Manager in a team environment. This person will start at 6:00AM and work with production, managing the flow of production, overseeing ice cream mixes (set up, paperwork, mixing, vat pasteurization- homogenization processes, labeling, packaging, etc.). The Production Manager will manage operators, doing shift checks, evaluating the next day’s production, and ensuring that operators and floor supervisors are set up for the next day’s loads and extractions. Vacation coverage for supervisors or managers; will assist in doing Monday morning communication-safety meeting, coordinating with Assistant Plant Manager on training of employees, and managing overall production and working with WSDA & FDA inspector. This person will also need to use the various computer programs for tracking inventories, input production data that is used to build reports and used in accounting systems. This person will be responsible for helping with changes in production.

Work Shift: 6:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Work Experience Required:

  • Dairy processing, food manufacturing, and ice cream production are preferred.
  • Experience with computer programs such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, cloud base programs, etc.
  • Must be able to lead and manage people and production.
  • Pasteurization License through WSDA (We can help with renewing this if needed).
  • Certification in HACCP & GMP.
  • Complete Level 3 Operator training.
  • Complete Training for online inventory control.
  • 2 Years in Food Manufacturing a plus.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Be able to organize and multitask.

Job Task and Duties:

  • Monitoring production from start to end.
  • Ensure that production paperwork for loading and extraction is completed.
  • Monday morning shift meeting (documented).
  • Type up Daily production journal, noting (issues, problems, employee issues, equipment issues, maintenance request forms, etc.)
  • Monitor and manage people.
  • Work on issues or problems that come up.
  • Help maintain plant compliance and assist with audits if needed.
  • Look for ways to improve efficiency, food safety, safety, culture, etc.
  • Check vat charts and documents (WSDA Vat Pasteurizer license is needed and assistance with that is provided).
  • Pasteurize production batches if needed.
  • Work with plant management with production schedules to meet demand.
  • Ensure Freezers, coolers, dry storage areas all stay clean and organized.
  • Plan Dairy usage according to schedule and provide information on dairy ordering 2 weeks in advance.
  • Schedule production operators to achieve the production schedule.
  • Supervise Production employees, including approving hours, scheduling, ensuring operators are properly trained on procedures and food safety protocols, performance management as needed with the support of the Plant Manager.
  • Help with the implementation of training and SOPs with employees.
  • Work with plant management on projects and improving efficiency.
  • Drive a forklift to receive raw material shipments.
  • Ensure orders are packaged and prepped and ready to ship according to sales orders.
  • Communicate any material needs or potential shortages of materials to the Operations Manager.
  • Run CIP sanitation protocols for all equipment.
  • Ensure Sanitation is performed as scheduled, and per procedure.
  • Be able to lift ~50 lbs. as needed.
  • This is a growing/ changing position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
