Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Director to oversee and manage all aspects of our health information systems. The ideal candidate will ensure the accuracy, privacy, and security of patient medical records while leading a team of HIM professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain HIM policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and manage the HIM department staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Data Management: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and security of patient health records, both electronic and paper-based.
- Compliance Oversight: Monitor and ensure adherence to HIPAA and other relevant privacy laws and standards.
- Quality Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance data quality, integrity, and accessibility to support patient care and organizational goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to optimize the use of health information in decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certification: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.Wikipedia
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in health information management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of health information systems, coding procedures, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
