Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, treatments, and procedures. Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information.
- Clinical Support: Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all necessary supplies are available.
- Patient Communication: Educate patients about treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care. Provide emotional support and address patient concerns.
- Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle billing and insurance documentation. Ensure accurate and timely entry of patient information into electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all healthcare regulations and safety protocols. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including care plans, progress notes, and any changes in patient status.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to patient crises and emergencies, coordinating necessary interventions and support services.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Education: Medical Assistant Certification
- Licensure: Active and unrestricted license in the state of Louisiana (e.g., CMA)
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in care coordination, case management, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and performing basic clinical procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of community resources and healthcare systems.
- Full-time position with a standard workweek.
- Some on-call weekend hours may be required to accommodate patient needs.
