Purpose of Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and team-oriented Legal Assistant to support attorneys specializing in litigation in Roseland, NJ. In this role, you will play a key part in the legal team’s success by managing administrative tasks, preparing legal documents, and coordinating schedules to ensure the effective management of cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily administrative tasks, including document preparation, file organization, data management, and deadlines.
- Prepare and edit legal documents such as briefs, motions, discovery requests, subpoenas, and other litigation materials.
- Coordinate and maintain attorney schedules, including court appearances, client meetings, depositions, and filing deadlines.
- Electronic filing of legal documents in state (e.g., NJ/NY) and federal courts via E-Courts and Pacer.
- Assist in organizing, reviewing, and managing discovery materials and evidence.
- Communicate professionally with clients, ensuring their needs are met while maintaining strict confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of our clients and their cases.
- Track attorney billable hours and assist with invoicing using appropriate billing software, and handle additional tasks as assigned to support the litigation team and ensure the seamless operation of the office.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines or manage case requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years in a legal assistant role, with experience in litigation.
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with document management systems, such as NetDocuments, SurePoint, or other similar platforms, is preferred.
- Knowledge of legal e-filing systems for state and federal courts.
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and time-management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional accuracy in drafting and proofreading legal documents.

Salary : $65,000 - $85,000
