Job Title: Civil Project Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a commitment to design excellence. This candidate should possess the ability to manage project deadlines, establish and maintain client relationships, and inspire a high level of performance from the team.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and coordinate projects with limited supervision
- Understand, review, and/or participate in preparing proposals
- Calculate/review costs and time schedules for proposed work
- Effectively manage and assign duties and schedules to assigned team members
- Check all technical work for accuracy
- Exceed client's expectations and foster client relationships by collaboration and problem-solving with the client as needed
- Communicate with clients weekly to provide project status and updates
- Recommend changes to the client as required and as approved by the Department/Project Manager
- Keep logs of client contacts
- Ensure individual and department QA/QC procedures are followed
- Fully permit and ensure entitlements of projects, including rezoning, special use permits, conditional use permits, site plan approvals, and required construction drawing approvals and permits
- Supervise Civil Designers assigned to project/teams and ensure all responsibilities of the designer are carried out efficiently and effectively
- Assist in review and processing of invoices for assigned projects and sub-consultants
- Contribute to business development by maintaining existing client relationships and acquiring new contacts/clients through attendance at local meetings, workshops, and/or social events
Essential Skills
- BSCE and Professional Licensure or pursuing
- 5 years of experience on various site design projects, including retail, commercial, and public sector projects, with increased experience in residential layouts, planning, and engineering
- Specific design experience with site layout, grading, storm drainage, stormwater management, water & sewer utilities, and erosion control
- Familiarity with entitlement processes and local permitting regulations
- Proficiency with technical software including Autodesk Civil 3D 2015 or newer, Hydraflow Storm Sewers/Hydrographs/Express Extensions, WaterCAD, and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective collaboration skills
- Team player with the willingness to adapt and learn new responsibilities and tasks

Work Environment
Individual will be working out of the new office in Durham. The office consists of 6 individuals with plans to grow. The firm has 160 individuals, with the majority of them located in Hillsborough. The firm is looking to add talent to their Durham office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
