Job Description
We are seeking a talented Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will lead continuous improvement initiatives in our manufacturing operations, focusing on driving operational excellence, increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing product quality through the application of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement projects to optimize manufacturing processes and achieve cost savings.
- Identify and eliminate waste, defects, and process variations to enhance operational performance and product quality.
- Train, mentor, and support Green Belts and other team members in Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
- Apply DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) and other problem-solving techniques to improve process stability and capability.
- Analyze manufacturing data and metrics to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—such as operations, quality, supply chain, and maintenance—to implement process improvements effectively.
- Facilitate kaizen events, value stream mapping sessions, and other lean initiatives to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Align projects with business goals, ensuring measurable improvements in quality, cost, delivery, and safety (QCDS).
- Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) based on best practices.
- Present progress, outcomes, and results of continuous improvement initiatives to leadership.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in leading complex, cross-functional process improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, process mapping, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in Minitab, JMP, or other statistical analysis tools.
- Familiarity with ISO standards, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance in manufacturing.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
- Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or Business Administration.
- Black Belt Certification (2 years removed from receiving).
- 5 years of experience with Six Sigma Principles / Lean Management.
- 5 years of project experience tied to Continuous Improvement or Cost Saving Initiatives.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Electric Machine/Mining Industry Manufacturing Experience.
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or Business Administration.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week (1st shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST). The role is split 50% on project-based support (forecasting future projects tied to cost savings initiatives) and 50% on the floor working with the shop implementing and leading existing projects (training for Green Belts for projects up to $10K in savings, developing curriculum to train the team on lean principles).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
