Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our Aftermarket Service team. This team supports existing equipment in the field by applying controls upgrades to machines globally. The majority of the PLC code has already been written and implemented; your role will primarily involve modifying existing PLC code and troubleshooting. This position includes both on-site commissioning and remote desk work, providing support to equipment worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Translate requirements into a system architecture and detailed design.
- Design, integrate, and install industrial automation and control systems, including PLC controls, motor controls, and general machine controls.
- Determine feasibility of modifying existing or designing new equipment, considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
- Validate designs through analysis and testing.
- Commission equipment in the manufacturing facility.
- Upload, troubleshoot, and code PLC software on the manufacturing floor.
- Remotely access and troubleshoot PLC code on machines across the globe.
Essential Skills
- 3 years' experience with Controls Engineering.
- 3 years' experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation, RSLogix, RSView, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet).
- Strong electrical skills, including the ability to read schematics.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred but not required).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with industrial power systems and automation.
- Knowledge of engine, generator, electrical traction, hydrostatics, and hydraulic controls.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (5% minimum, up to 20% preferred).
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in Hamel, MN, with up to 75 days of work from home annually. During the training period, you will be required to be in the office full-time. If you are out of commute range but willing to stay in a hotel 1-2 nights per week, accommodation expenses will be covered. The role involves both desk/office work and regular floor activities for commissioning and troubleshooting equipment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr.
