Job Description: As a Coolant Transfer Design & Release Engineer for Thermal Hardware, you will leverage your mechanical design expertise to develop and implement coolant transfer lines, including packaging, routing, and bracketry. You will collaborate with other designers to create innovative thermal management solutions. Your role will involve working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the high-quality delivery of products. Coolant transfer systems are crucial for maintaining thermal system balance and efficiency, particularly for heat exchangers and other components requiring coolant or energy exchange.
Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the design and development of coolant transfer systems from concept to production.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focusing on quality, mass, and cost optimization.
- Coordinate with design groups and application centers to develop balanced coolant distribution routing that meets functional thermal management requirements.
- Ensure timely delivery of project activities and milestones within budget constraints.
- Identify and implement the best methods for validating designs.
- Document best practices and create knowledge-sharing initiatives for design and mass reduction.
- Utilize analytical and basic simulation tools to manage tasks effectively.
Who You Are: You are an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong understanding in designing complex coolant routing systems and their attachments. You thrive in a collaborative, energetic, and global environment. Your proven ability to interact with cross-functional and cross-site product development teams is a significant asset.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience as a mechanical designer.
- Excellent understanding of physics principles related to heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and bench testing for ICE and EV systems.
- At least 3 years of experience in thermal systems engineering, preferably in the EV automotive or a similar industry.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing new and innovative processes and methodologies.
- Expertise in design documentation and product data management.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD and PTC CREO is mandatory.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Ability to read, interpret, and generate complex engineering documents, including technical specifications for testing, validation, and design best practices
Professional Skills:
- Leading design reviews for automotive/trucking industry components with internal and external stakeholders, preferably for coolant transfer systems.
- Strong interpretation of technical requirements for vehicle components, subsystems, and full systems.
- Ability to conduct and lead FMEA.
- Working knowledge of thermal systems and cooling circuits in electric vehicles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design components and systems with minimal support.
- Knowledge of DAQ systems for testing.
- Ability to train others.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent cross-collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
