Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Drafter/Designer to join our Gas Design Team in our Orlando office. This role primarily supports Underground Natural Gas Pipeline Design projects for utility companies across Florida. Key design elements include pumps, heat exchangers, flanges, valves, bypass valves, meters, and flowpipes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare computer drafted natural gas pipeline as-builts and mechanical detail drawings.
- Reproduce historic pipeline drawings using AutoCAD.
- Generate bills of materials.
- Work independently to complete tasks.
- Print working drawings using a plotter.
- Create estimated time requirements for projects.
- Attend project-specific meetings to determine CAD schedules.
- Save project-specific data on a daily and weekly basis.
- Operate a scanner to duplicate project documents and scan field notes.
- Complete pipeline 'as-built' drawings from field notes, historic documents, survey data, etc.
- Complete 811 design requests and coordinate responses to obtain 3rd party infrastructure.
- Verify and organize field visit survey notes.
- Assist Project Managers as needed.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Maintain excellent client relations.
- Ensure a safe working environment.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience in natural gas and piping design.
- Mechanical drafting and design skills.
- Engineering knowledge, particularly in valves, heat exchangers, and flow analysis.
- Understanding of underground utilities and civil design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2 years of piping design experience, specifically in MEP piping/plumbing.
- Gas piping or pipeline experience is advantageous.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
- Experience with ESRI/GIS is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
