Job Title: Drafter

Job Description

This role encompasses three separate job duties: Jr Utility Designer/Drafter, Field Technician, and customer service skills. The candidate will be supporting Electric New Business work coming directly from BGE along with other utilities owned by Exelon. When customers request new installations or additions, the candidate will communicate with the customers, schedule a time to visit the field to take measurements and pictures, and then create generic design packages based on their field notes. The role involves spending approximately 30% of the time in the field and 70% in the office working on designs. These percentages may change based on the flow of work and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support Electric New Business work from BGE and other utilities.
• Communicate with customers regarding new installations or additions.
• Schedule and conduct field visits for measurements and pictures.
• Compile field notes and create generic design packages.
• Work both independently and as part of a team.
• Use personal vehicle for field work (mileage reimbursed).

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Microstation and/or AutoCAD (Microstation preferred).
• Detail-oriented.
• Open to field work including data collection, taking pictures, and field sketches.
• Customer service abilities.
• Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) programs.
• Knowledge of GIS and blueprint reading.

Work Environment

The job site is located at a field office in Hanover, MD. The environment features open seating and a collaborative culture. Directions are sent out via email when project managers are out of town. The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Some work hours can be flexible, but field schedules may depend on customer availability in the surrounding area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
