Job Description
We are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to design and develop electrical systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating electrical system designs, specifying components, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role involves collaboration with mechanical and control engineers, testing and validation of prototypes, and continuous improvement of electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical system designs, schematics, and layouts.
- Specify components including wiring, controllers, sensors, and actuators.
- Collaborate with mechanical and control engineers to integrate electrical systems into vehicle designs.
- Conduct tests on prototypes to ensure electrical systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
- Prototype wiring harnesses and optimize them for manufacturability and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during production and field testing.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, including SAE, NFPA, and DOT requirements.
- Document technical specifications and maintain records of design iterations.
- Work with manufacturing teams to support the production process and resolve design-related issues.
- Partner with procurement to identify and source cost-effective, high-quality components.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and cost optimization in electrical systems.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in electrical engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive, heavy equipment, or harness design.
- Experience with Arcadia harness design including database management.
- Experience with harness design from concept through prototype evaluation and production release.
- Experience creating electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar.
- Familiarity with J1939 CAN bus systems, controllers, and electrical harness design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles.
Work Environment
The work environment includes both office and manufacturing floor settings, with occasional visits to customer sites or test facilities. The role also involves working in a prototype shop for installation and evaluation of new harness designs, and may require working in outdoor environments for testing purposes.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00
