Job Title: Health and Safety Manager
Job Description
Develop and execute Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) strategies aligned with organizational goals. Advise senior management on EHS matters, risk mitigation, and compliance. Foster a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Identify and assess EHS risks within the workplace.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections.
- Create and update EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Implement safety programs and initiatives.
- Train employees on safety protocols.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Coordinate drills and exercises.
- Respond effectively to incidents and crises.
- Monitor environmental performance.
- Implement sustainable practices.
- Address environmental impacts.
- Maintain accurate records related to EHS activities.
- Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure timely submission of required documentation.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and safety incidents.
- Analyze incidents to identify underlying causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Use incident data to drive continuous improvement in safety processes.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and community organizations.
- Regularly communicate EHS updates to employees, management, and board members.
- Engage employees in safety committees, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in EHS management.
- Knowledge of environmental safety, health & safety, waste management, and hazardous waste.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist are advantageous.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time to US locations.
- Proficiency in OSHA regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and safety audits.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
Work Environment
Will work on-site at New Hope. The organization offers a stable and growth-focused work environment. Benefits include a 15% short-term incentive annual bonus target and a 15% long-term incentive. The role reports directly to the Engineering Manager and involves collaboration on safety initiatives and programs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
