What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histology Lab Technician position at Actalent?
Actalent is currently hiring a lab technician to support the Histology lab in Cleveland, OH. This position would begin as a 6 month contract, with potential to become a permanent role, if desired. New college grads welcome!
Hours are 8am-5pm, M-F (slightly flexible), and the pay ranges from $19-23/hr based on experience.
Job Description
The Lab Technician will working alongside the Histology team, performing the following responsibilities:
- Block filing-organize blocks in numerical, alphabetical, numerical order
- Block Melting-use of block melter
- Block QA-especially with Beaker Go Live-computer work
- Pick up rush tissue cassettes and load onto tissue processor-instrumentation would be tissue processor/computer
- Run the Xylene recycler-instrumentation would be xylene recycler
- Clean the molds-mold cleaning unit
- Pick up tool boxes
- Change routine H&E stainer
- Pull blocks for recuts
Additional Skills and Qualifications
- B.S. in a life science (Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, pre-med, etc.)
- Prior lab experience is a plus
- Experience in a regulated environment is a plus
- Desire to be in the position long term
- Comfortable sitting and standing for long periods of time
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50
