What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histology Technician position at Actalent?
Description
- Prepares sections of human and/or animal tissue for immediate examination, using rapid tissue processing and frozen section technique to cut, mount, and stain tissue specimens.
- Prepares slides or specimens, using special cutting and specified stain, to enhance visibility under microscope.
- Operates computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate with wax, tissue specimens to be preserved for study by pathologist; maintains and troubleshoots delicate electronic histological equipment.
- Performs computerized data entry of all work performed and generates reports as required.
- May train in relevant and proper histology procedures, including tissue cut down, embedding, cutting, and staining.
- Maintains all histologic manuals in the laboratory; recommends and develops new services, projects, and procedures.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience: At least 1 year of directly related work experience
• License/Certification: HT or HTL certification REQUIRED

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00
