What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histology Technician position at Cypress HCM?
Job Description :
- Perform tissue sample sectioning for microscopic examination using a microtome.
- Re-embed tissue blocks as necessary.
- Operate and utilize automated slide stainers for efficient slide preparation.
- Conduct Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM) of tissue samples on slides under the supervision of a pathologist.
- Perform macro-dissection (tissue scraping) on slides as required.
- Accurately label specimens and verify sample identifiers against source documents to ensure proper identification.
- Conduct daily inventory checks and maintenance activities within the histology department.
- Troubleshoot general issues, such as missing or conflicting sample identifiers.
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks to support laboratory operations, ensuring documentation aligns with state, CLIA, and CAP compliance requirements.
- Operate Laboratory Information System (LIS) software to facilitate various laboratory workflows.
