Job Title: Civil/Utility Inspector
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Utility Inspector to oversee the relocation, installation, and protection of water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications infrastructure. The Inspector will ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contracts, and codes while monitoring construction progress and adherence to schedules. This role requires identifying deficiencies, recommending corrective actions, and acting as a liaison between contractors, utility companies, and project management. The position also involves coordinating with utility owners/agencies to minimize disruptions and resolve conflicts, updating the project team on utility work progress and issues, maintaining daily inspection logs, photos, and reports, and reviewing contractor submittals, RFIs, and change order requests.
Responsibilities
- Inspect relocation, installation, and protection of water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contracts, and codes.
- Monitor construction progress and adherence to schedules.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Act as a liaison between contractors, utility companies, and project management.
- Coordinate with utility owners/agencies to minimize disruptions and resolve conflicts.
- Update the project team on utility work progress and issues.
- Maintain daily inspection logs, photos, and reports.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change order requests.
Essential Skills
- Inspection experience in civil infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of excavation, trenching, and underground systems installation.
- Understanding of Utilities such as water, sewer, gas, and electric systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in rail, tunnel, roadway, or other heavy civil infrastructure projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- NICET or ICC certification.
- Experience working with PSEG or ConEd.
Work Environment
This role involves working on a multi-billion dollar infrastructure project, requiring five days on site. The successful candidate will join a team of inspectors, Resident Engineers, Construction Managers, Field Engineers, and more. The position involves monitoring, inspecting, and documenting utility-related construction activities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
