Description
We are looking for a responsible lab assistant to carry out sample prep for a busy mass spectrometry laboratory. Candidate will perform testing, measuring, recording and analyzing in cooperation with the rest of the lab team.
Essentially this candidate will be performing sample prep work in a wet lab - this will entail, extracting proteins from different tissues, such as, brain, menstrual fluid, bone, liver, etc. They will be converting these tissues/proteins to a form that can be ran through the instruments by the lab techs.
The successful candidate will have experience in a laboratory environment and the ability to reliably reproduce prep techniques.
Responsibilities
• Perform laboratory tests including pre- and post-analytic phases
• Prepare samples/specimens
• Produce accurate and reliable data and interpret results
• Follow methodologies in carrying routine tasks
• Research relevant topics and gather information/data
• Adhere to correct procedures, policies and health/safety guidelines
• Keep abreast of all industry developments and best practices
• Document all activities, record results and insert/retrieve data
• Maintain work area and equipment
• Provide administrative assistance Skills
• Proven working experience as a lab assistant
• Familiarity with automated laboratory equipment
• Computer literacy and experience with Laboratory Information Systems
• Accuracy and close attention to detail
• Strong analytical judgement

Additional Skills & Qualifications
6 months - 1 year post undergrad - no one that wants to pursue a masters or phd, as this is entry level but they want this person to move up within the company and stay long-term. Someone with a biological degree (molecular biology, biology, biochem, microbiology, etc) NO Chemistry if possible and NO Environmental science backgrounds.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00
