Emerging Laboratory Assistant Opportunity in the Omaha Area!!

Job Description

Join our dynamic lab team where you’ll get hands-on with a variety of tasks! From preparing samples for analysis to creating solutions and keeping our lab equipment sparkling clean, every day brings something new. If you enjoy a mix of routine and variety, this role is for you!

Responsibilities

• Mix water, detergents, and/or acids in containers to create cleaning solutions as specified.
• Wash, rinse, dry, and sterilize glassware and instruments.
• Scrub walls, floors, shelves, tables, and sinks.
• Fill tubes and bottles with specified solutions and label them accordingly.
• Arrange specimens and samples on trays for placement in incubators and refrigerators.
• Deliver supplies and lab specimens to designated areas.
• Maintain inventory reports and logs.
• Prepare and maintain bacteriological media and chemical solutions, ensuring proper labeling, handling, storage, use, and disposal, including autoclaved and hazardous waste.
• Use a grinder or other equipment to homogenize, extract, or otherwise prepare samples for analytical testing.
• Weigh samples and record values in logs.
• Assist in managing priorities and schedules to achieve individual and team goals.
• Ensure personal and others’ safety within the work area.
• Complete required training.

• One to three months of related experience and/or training

Work Environment

The lab operates in a fast-paced and interactive atmosphere, often bustling with activity as various tests and experiments are conducted simultaneously. Teamwork and communication are key. The environment can vary from quiet to loud, and temperatures can range from hot to cold, depending on the equipment and processes in use. Shift options include 4am-1pm, 2pm-11pm, and 10pm-7am. Maintaining a clean and sterile environment is essential to prevent contamination and ensure the accuracy of tests. The lab offers numerous opportunities to learn new techniques and expand your knowledge in microbiology, providing a solid foundation for future career growth and specialization. You'll work closely with a team of scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00
